Easy Toffee Popcorn
Not the Korean drama again pfffttttt lol
I don't know about you but I just love popcorn .
The popcorn that's being sold in the cinemas here's really quiet good .
The downside ? 'tis quiet expensive ...
The price is almost the same as the movie ticket er the morning showing , that is ! lol
I seldom buy it , of course , me being cheap hee hee
So when I saw this popcorn recipe from one of the foodie magazine , I knew I had to make it .
And yup , it does tastes like the one I had in the cinema !
So , what's your fave popcorn flavor ?!
Recipe from my fave mag , Good Housekeeping Magazine , UK , Nov 2011
1 tbsp oil
100 grams corn kernels
100 grams butter
100 grams brown sugar
4 tbsp golden syrup , such as Lyle's
* Heat oil over high heat in a large , deep pan ( with a deep fitting lid ) ; add corn kernels , stir and put on the lid . When kernels starts popping , shake pan to encourage all the kernels to pop without scorching . Set aside .
* Melt butter , sugar and syrup in a large pan or wok ; bring to a boil and leave to bubble for 3-5 minutes . Add popcorn and turn to coat . Spread on to baking sheet with parchment paper and leave to cool .
ooo this looks so good! i can never resist toffee popcorn. i think my all time favorite is old fashioned butter and salt (with lots of both!) but if i had to choose between that and this, i don't know what i would do...
ReplyDeleteyum yum. nami gid ni when watching the tube with your fave show!
ReplyDeleteThis looks so good! This is totally an essential to eat with a great movie :D
ReplyDeleteThis does make for one tasty snack, much better than the cinema could ever sell and of course there is a savings here as well. I know you Anne and I am really wondering what kept you occupied while these mounds of warm toffee popcorn were cooling. Even I wound find the wait a little like torture!
ReplyDeleteI also just love popcorn! Great idea you had, sounds really good!!
ReplyDeleteWOW! Looks so yummy. Must make this for my boys as they love popcorn very much.
ReplyDeleteOh yum! I have never made my OWN popcorn. I have only ever tried the boring butter popcorn. This looks great!
ReplyDeleteBut it's true. I think that the cinemas make more money on food than they do on the films.
Oh yum! This is a must for a movie night! So tempting that I can eat the whole bucket all for myself! LOL Yup! Feel like a kiddo all over! heheh My sons will love this even for snack! Will make this for the weekend! Thanks for sharing! Have a nice day! :)
ReplyDeleteI love popcorn but try not to eat sweet or salty flavors. But once in awhile I do relish full butter flavored popcorn. This one does look good.

Oh I love pop corn too and I also never buy from the movie theatre, the price they charge is ridiculous....bookmarking this, will give it a try....what I do is just microwave a ready one and then sprinkle some brown sugar, the sugar melts in the heat and sticks to some of the pop corns...but need to try this one...
ReplyDeleteOh yummmmmm! I never made my own popcorn, and I will definitely try to make some after seeing your mouth-watering pictures!!!! Thanks for the recipe!
ReplyDeletewhat a nice snack for me during lazy weekend like todae!

Ha-I have been known to sneak my own food in at the theater and this does look well worth taking the risk! I need to find a bag to put it in that does not make a lot of noise when opening. If I get caught I will not reveal you as the instigator! Delicious post!
